Pastor D.M. Cotton, Senior Pastor

Our Pastor D. M. Cotton, hails from Fort Worth, Texas.  He’s the younger of two boys. Although both of his parents were High School Math Teachers for Fort Worth ISD; both he and his brother attended private school and graduated from Nolan High School in Fort Worth. He is a graduated from East Texas State University in Commerce, TX; now known as Texas A&M University at Commerce.

Pastor Cotton received his degree with a double major, majoring in Art and Computer Science.  His mother encourage him to teach, so he also pursued a Teacher Certificate with the state of Texas (his mother didn’t want him to starve as an artist).  Met my wife to be, Brenda McDowell, during his  undergraduate years. Upon graduation, he came back to work for the university in Admissions, as a College Recruiter, where he remained for three years.  He followed his fiancé Brenda, back to Dallas after her graduation.  This is where he began his illustrious thirty year teaching career as a high school art teacher for Dallas Independent School District, namely, Woodrow Wilson High School. He retired at the end of school year 2016.  “Thanks Mom, for recommending this career choice, because I did not starve.”  During his tenure at Woodrow Wilson, he achieved his Masters Degree from the noted "Dallas Theological Seminary".

He grew in his ministerial role while attending the True Love Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas, under Pastor  M. E. Sargent. He graduated from teaching  bible study to the role of Deacon and finally accepting his call to preach the gospel in 1992.

In the year of 2000, I was asked to assume the pastorate of this historical church Goodwill Baptist Church, where he currently serves as our Pastor; for over sixteen years.
